DIE ZUKUNFT IST DAS NEUE DING

Selected positions around the work of Prof. Thomas Rug

This exhibition attempts to depict the astounding breadth of the teaching of Thomas Rug, now Emeritus Professor of Graphics at Burg Giebichenstein, Kunsthochschule Halle. Technically and conceptually highly divergent strategies of more than 40 artistic personalities, whose path was guided in one way or another by a seminal school, are exchanged in this exhibition. Fine observations, kopfkino, abstract investigations, gruff stagings, borrowings from high-, pop- and everyday culture make loud or soft Rabatz. Hardly practiced techniques are ventilated contemporary. The future is the new thing, so also for Thomas Rug.

“The position that non-human animals occupy in our cultural imagination is proof for how easy it is to accept the lower status of some beings without even a second thought.”
